Frauenschuh's Compostable Packaging

We have made it our mission to minimize plastic in our company as much as possible and to focus on degradable products and renewable materials.

For our apparel, we therefore rely on the use of compostable packaging from TIPA.

Advantages of TIPA packaging:

  • TIPA packaging mimics the physical and functional properties of conventional plastics and is fully compostable at the end of its life cycle.
  • Unlike conventional plastics, TIPA packaging composts without leaving microplastics, a pollutant that enters our bodies, the air, and our food.
  • TIPA's packaging fully composts at home and/or in an industrial composting facility, leaving no waste.
  • After composting, they replenish the topsoil and maintain soil fertility in various ways: they store carbon, regulate water, increase soil biodiversity, and much more.

TIPA strives to continuously increase the proportion of renewable materials in its packaging solutions. To ensure that no waste remains after composting, they have opted for a combination of fossil and bio-based polymers, both of which are fully compostable and mimic the functionalities of common plastics.

How does TIPA packaging biodegrade?

During the composting process, TIPA packaging disintegrates and then biodegrades.

1. When it disintegrates, it means it breaks down into small particles less than 2 mm in size. The timeframe for this phase is between 3 and 6 months.

2. In biodegradation, the small particles are digested by bacteria and converted into CO2, water, and organic matter. This phase also takes between 3 and 6 months.

Please remove all non-compostable components after use.

Place packaging in home compost or organic waste collection.

The packaging dissolves within 6 months and decomposes within 12 months.

Once the compost is ready, you can use it as fertilizer for your garden.
